World Cup: Dutch avoid heart stoppage in stoppage time

July 6, 2010
By Our Man

Uruguay put a last-minute show so scary it gave this Kenyan Dutchman more heart stoppages in stoppage time than Dick Cheney has had since 1492, when he discovered America. Yeah, he is that old. Today also proved that sports pundits are full of feces.

World Cup: Ghana did not break African hearts

July 3, 2010
By Our Man

It looks like someone is finally paying attention to my rants about media coverage of this World Cup. The Root picked up my take on Ghana's and Africa's run in the tournament. (CHI-CHING$$$) Pundits say it was "a disappointing performance." I say our boys did wonders against soccer's elites.

World Cup: You ain’t Ghana believe this!

June 26, 2010
By Our Man

Speaking of Mexicans, Jehovah, did you know – thanks to you of course -- Ghana put up a really solid D-fence today against those we shall not speak of? Ghana’s D-fence was so solid if they had it along their southern border we wouldn’t need Gov. Jan Brewer’s racist law to keep Mexicans out...

June 25, 2010

A reporter from the New York Times, a newspaper whose correspondents parachute, accuses foreign coaches of African World Cup teams of "impolite habit of parachuting in." And, he makes the accussation in an article that epitomizes parachuting.

World Cup: Congratulations Team USA, but now we need to talk

June 23, 2010
By Our Man

Another USA goal disallowed! Until someone can give me a better answer, I'm going to side with those who think Coulibaly, who's been a FIFA official as long as Frank De Bleeckere, got harsher treatment because he comes from a continent where people are thought to be "third rate."

World Cup: Bafana Bafana, the epitome of Africa resilience

June 22, 2010
By Our Man

Dear Bafana Bafana: For the next few weeks the media will recite, over and over again, those lines about what you didn't do right. In fact, as I'm writing this, a BBC Radio newscaster is repeating the same line about you being the first host nation blah, blah, blah. Don’t listen to them.

World Cup: Angry Africans ‘can hurt your players,’ Klinsmann warns

June 21, 2010
By Our Man

“African teams gets very emotional and angry (when they are losing) then they begin to make fouls that could really hurt your players,” Klinsmann said. What about Germany vs Serbia, Klinsmann, where the referee issued eight cards, including a red for Germany's Miroslav Klose? Were those Germans booked because they can pamper your players?

World Cup: USA still whining about ‘Great Timbuktu Heist’

June 20, 2010
By Our Man

We promise "democratic reforms" ahead of Brazil 2014. We'll feed our soccer players filth from the fast food joints you're spreading around the world. (We're "Lovin' it!"). Come kickoff, you'll see 300-pound Africans, Europeans, Asians and those guys from the countries south of your border in spandex and helmets.

Why Africans should never support USA in World Cup

June 18, 2010
By Our Man

I wanted USA to win because I have been a fan of the team since their 1994 performance. But after the ESPN2 commentary that followed the match with Slovenia, I'm vowing to never again support Team U.S.A. In fact, any self-respecting African supporting USA should stop.
